Birth
As a labor and delivery doula, my primary job is to provide emotional, physical, and informational support to you during, childbirth. Here's a breakdown of my responsibilities:
-
Emotional Support: I offer continuous emotional encouragement, reassurance, and comfort to you and your partner. This may involve providing a calming presence, offering words of encouragement, and helping to alleviate fears or anxieties about childbirth.
-
Physical Support: I provide hands-on support during labor and delivery, assisting with comfort measures such as massage, breathing techniques, relaxation techniques, and suggesting different positions to help manage pain and promote progress in labor. I may also assist with hydration, nutrition, and movement to support the birthing person's comfort and well-being.
-
Advocacy: I act as an advocate for you, helping you to voice your preferences, concerns, and needs to your healthcare providers. I facilitate communication between you and your medical team, ensuring that your wishes are respected and that you have access to all available information to make informed decisions about your care.
-
Informational Support: I will provide evidence-based information about childbirth options, procedures, and interventions, empowering you to make informed decisions about your birth experience. This may involve discussing birth plans, labor stages, medical interventions, and postpartum care.
-
Postpartum Support: After childbirth, I will provide support to the new family by offering breastfeeding assistance, newborn care tips, emotional support, and referrals to additional resources or support services as needed.

God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
